Why did Amazon initially deny leave of absence to Alexis Scott-Windham, the Amazon worker who survived the New Orleans terrorist attack?

I still can't believe someone denied the request and didn't consider this. Which basically proves Amazon doesn’t care about their workforce, not even when runover and shot. HR over there must stand for Heartless Robots. Either way, I loathe this company. Everything I learn about them tells me its business practices are unethical and exploitative, a whisker away from modern slavery and that’s because lawmakers didn’t want to upset the billionaire in charge.

My guess is greed and cruelty but, thankfully, after public outrage, Amazon folded faster than their delivery drivers under holiday quotas. Hence, they backtracked and gave her paid leave. All it took was bad press to show a little compassion. But basic decency shouldn’t require a social media outcry. Imagine surviving a traumatizing terror attack and your reward is fighting Bezos’ HR team like it’s Mortal Kombat.

That’s why these billionaires like Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg and others are showing their true colors now Trump is in charge. Capitalism at its ugliest and the clearest sign that unions are critical.
